CHICAGO—“Outstanding, amazing, awesome.” These were the descriptions that Mr. Diaz, the owner of a limousine company and his wife, a teacher, gave the Divine Performing Arts (DPA) after seeing the show on Dec. 27 in Chicago.

Part of DPA’s 80-city world tour this season, its New York Company is presenting three shows in the city’s renowned Civic Opera House during the weekend.

To customer service representative Ms. Montanec, it is easy to comment on DPA’s show: “The performance was divine, just like the name is.” She thought that the show was very touching. “Basically [the dancers’] hand movements, their body movements, the projection that they had in their face ... every single movement that they made delivers an emotional feeling within ... every single movement had a message.”

Physicians Bapu and Vijay Arekapudi, who go to the Civil Opera House eight times a year, also found the DPA phenomenal. They liked the dances a lot, especially Persecuted on a Sacred Path, which portrays the story of a Falun Gong practitioner being tortured to death by the Chinese Communist regime, but rewarded by heaven in the end. Mr. Arekapudi thinks that freedom of expression and freedom of spirit is very important, and that the Chinese regime should accept the diversity of people’s different ideas.

“I am not a religious man,” he claims, “but I defend the people who like to believe what they want.” He states that China needs to change, and that it would be a great success for Chinese people if they could one day have freedom.

Ms. Paulos, a nurse, holds the same opinion as Mr. Arekapudi. What struck her the most was the inspiration in "Persecuted on a Sacred Path" that there is hope for good things to come, no matter how horrible the current situation is. Although her seat was not far from the stage, she brought her opera glass to the show so that she could catch all the details of the performance. Her son is a musician in New York and she said that she would go there to see the show again with him.

Her friend Ms. Levy, a retired neuroscience professor, loved Flowing Sleeves, Rest in Knowing, Hesitate No Longer, and Hope. She felt the performances was profound, from the costume design to the composition of the songs.

County Recorder: DPA Performance 'will pull people together'

演出中場的時候，他接受記者採訪時表示他和家人都很喜歡神韻的節目， 西蒙先生覺得演出非常棒，他非常喜歡第一個節目《開創五千年文明》和《婆羅花開》這個節目，編舞和音樂都做的很好。

作為一個IT行業的人士，他認為節目中的動畫製作非常乾淨（neat）、很酷，三維立體動畫大大增加了節目的視覺深度(Depth)，他以上半場倒數第二個節目中（按：《迫害中我們依然走在神的路上》）為例，天幕上出現了神佛，然後扮演神佛演員從幕後出現，他覺得這種方式很好，很新奇。

西蒙先生的太太稱演出為「美麗色彩和優雅動作的盛宴」，喜歡每一個節目，他們的兒子則最喜歡《金猴降妖》，並且表示從節目中學到應待人以「善」和面對苦難不氣餒。

在談到《金猴降妖》節目中的猴王一些西方人製作的電影中猴王的不同時，西蒙先生的太太認為，那些電影更多的是娛樂的元素，而這裡則更多的是展現故事，關於善與惡，對與錯的故事。西蒙先生的兒子說他「知道」（know）「節目中的高難度動作更多的是中國的文化而不是動作」。

西蒙先生的太太表示她接受到了演出所傳遞的關於「你在這一生中堅守忍讓和善良，並遵從神所指出的路，那麼你將有在天堂的來生」的信息。西蒙先生表示他瞭解到中國正在發生的迫害，他很讚賞神韻通過演出把這一重要信息傳遞給西方社會。(

HOUSTON—A philosopher's quest for the truth may be found in China's ancient divine culture.

That's according to a visiting scholar from China, Mr. Liu, who attended the show presented by the Divine Performing Arts 2009 World Tour at the Jesse H. Jones Hall for the Performing Arts in Houston.

Mr. Liu has been working in Austin for just over a year as a researcher in the field of science and technology. He drove three hours to see the show which played there on Dec. 22 and 23.

After the curtain closed, Mr Liu told an Epoch Times reporter that he felt good and appreciated a deeper meaning conveyed in each piece.

"It is absolutely an excellent bridge to carry and express the Chinese culture. To be specific, the authentic Chinese culture with 5,000 years of history emphasized benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and trust. The nation should be governed by four dimensions - propriety, justice, honesty, and honor.”

Mr Liu said those concepts were fully expressed throughout the show and said the colorful costumes "perfectly matched a beauty that touched people’s hearts."

He overheard two people sitting behind him at intermission saying how much they liked the show and that made him feel proud.

“It calms people's hearts down and people enjoy it peacefully, melt into it, proving that truly beautiful things move people's hearts.

[But,] because of a moral degeneration today, many popular things are vulgar. This show doesn't have those things. We don’t need those vulgar things to seduce people. This is a top level show.”

In comparing the show to a pure, clear stream, Mr Liu said: “I feel the DPA show, from one aspect promotes traditional Chinese culture, and from the another aspect, it lets people feel the principals of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance.”

He said he did not believe the show would ever go to China because of the Falun Gong content and some of the performers who follow the spiritual practice that was introduced in 1992 and outlawed in 1999 by the Chinese communist regime.

Since then, thousands upon thousands have died deaths by torture inflicted while they were illegally held in custody. Mr. Liu hoped this situation would end soon.

"The persecution is still very serious in mainland and it is still happening. One program in the show, in which one male Falun Gong practitioner was persecuted to death, represents what is happening in China now. Many such tragedies have happened, even among my relatives. I have sympathy for them; that should not [have] happened."

Mr Liu said that since leaving China he exchanged views with his fellow countrymen that didn't want to go back to China.

“We all love our country, but we do not love the current situation. Besides, social morals have degenerated very fast in China, in all fields. I feel heartache over this situation; I feel anxious but hopeless,too . I hope the situation will improve."

He had no problems accepting the spirituality contained in the DPA's performance of China's rich past, of Buddhas and Gods, and 5,000-year history.

Many Westerners believe in Christianity and 50 percent of scientists follow Jesus's teachings, Mr. Liu said. "If people really want to understand, they will find the truth."

For example, in the program “The Five Millennia Begin,” Emperor Xuanyuan is portrayed as a Buddha descending to the human world, with gods following him.

“The show does help me understand something,” he said. “From a scientific viewpoint, evolution has been questioned by many scientists on the issue of where humans originally come from? Where do we go after we leave this world? Who am I? Many people are asking these questions. It is the ultimate question in philosophy. The Chinese divine culture has a very good answer for it, and the program I just mentioned is very touching.”

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and several other officials welcomed Divine Performing Arts (DPA), as its 2009 World Tour will enchant the Canadian audience starting around the New Year in seven major cities.

The greetings join wishes from government officials around the world since the three DPA companies had opening nights in three U.S. cities in time for the holidays on December 19.

“I am pleased to extend my warmest greetings to everyone attending the Divine Performing Arts - 2009 World Tour,” said Harper in a letter. 

“Tonight’s event is a celebration of Chinese heritage, and the rich customs and classic tales that go with it. I am certain that the intricate costumes, brilliant choreography and outstanding musical compositions that you will be treated to this evening will be a wonderful reflection of the beauty and grandeur of 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture, and of the great pride felt by the Chinese Canadian community.”

Audience members of many ethnic groups who saw last and this year’s shows were intrigued by this culture. Some were even moved to tears by the inspiration and energy delivered by the performers. The dancers’ passion for their 5,000 years of heritage could be felt.

“As Canadians, we take great pride in preserving the heritage of our ancestors, ensuring that succeeding generations will understand and appreciate their history. Whether Canadian by birth or by adoption, whether our roots extend beyond these borders or are just breaking ground, we gain invaluable knowledge about each other and ourselves by sharing our traditions, customs and beliefs,” said Governor General Michaëlle Jean.

“This celebration, and many others like it being held in communities across Canada, reflects the beauty of our nation’s rich cultural tapestry.”

The 2009 World Tour will have its first Canadian shows in Ottawa on January 2, and finishing off in Edmonton on April 16. According to DPA, the company strives to revive the lost Chinese cultural heritage denounced under the rule of the Chinese Communist regime, and shares Chinese values including purity, compassion, and beauty with the world.

“On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the performers of the DPA world tour for giving Canadians the opportunity to experience such dazzling and internationally-celebrated performances,” said Minister of Citizenship, Immigration, and Multiculturalism Jason Kenney.

【大纪元12月22日讯】（大纪元记者李成思费城报导）神韵纽约艺术团08年12月20日在费城美利安剧院进行了第二场演出，从中国大陆来美国的作家、古汉语专家孟女士在看了神韵艺术团的表演后，觉得舞蹈演员的基本功非常好，整体水准相当高。尤其是年轻演员简直不可思议，对音乐的理解很深刻，动作表现很富有感染力，她认为可能是因为法轮功的关系。

孟女士表示，“节目本身不算长，可是却涵盖了中国最传统的东西，比如木兰、济公等家喻户晓的故事。民族舞也非常棒，特别是藏族舞、蒙古舞的表现和服装设计，包括编导，都是一流的。”“这台演出是一台爱国的演出，爱中国文化的演出，我觉得凡是爱国的人，就要来看。”

她说：“我都向我的美国朋友们推荐中国文化，他们也喜欢中国文化，尤其喜欢真正的中国文化。中国这么大，从南到北，有五十六个民族，而看了这台演出，你可以在两个小时内看到你需要了解的内容。真的是非常优秀的演出，我以前见识过总政文工团、东方歌舞团、中央民族乐团的表演，他们水准高，可是内容没有这么宽，也没有这些中国传统的东西。这台演出是向世界宣传中国。”

“我觉得这些演员的专业训练很严格，因为他们对音乐、舞蹈、动作的理解不是肤浅的，一定是经过了专门的训练和上课。我有位朋友是中国中央民族大学的舞蹈老师，我非常遗憾这次没有带她来，下次要把她带来看神韵。”

让我感触最深的是节目中的佛家渊源很深，是以善为本的。我记得中国人都知道，人之初、性本善，节目是传统的中国文化，善才是中国人的本性。

【看中国记者宋杰休士敦报导】12月23日晚，神韵国际艺术团在美南名城休士顿的第二场演出圆满落下了帷幕。一位到奥斯汀作访问学者一年多的刘先生说，神韵的演出非常令人感动，每个节目都让人眼前一亮，很震撼！“这是一场一级的演出！” 亲耳听到西人赞神韵 很自豪 刘先生说，神韵的演出久负盛名，他看到很多关于神韵的报导，非常好，所以就开车差不多三个小时过来看这场演出。而他在中场休息的时候听到身后的美国人说喜欢这场演出时，感到非常自豪。 刘先生说，神韵演出对于弘扬中国文化绝对是一个非常好的桥梁，将中国的正统文化表达出来。中国五千年的正统文化，讲究仁、义、礼、智、信，国治四维、礼义廉耻，在晚会中体现的淋漓尽致。而且这个晚会的服装色彩搭配的非常好，很合理，非常漂亮。晚会的第一个节目和最后一个节目， 寓意非常深刻。 一股清流入人心 刘先生说，现在由于道德的原因，许多流行的东西很低俗。而神韵的演出没有那些东西，所以使人能够静下心来，很安静的欣赏，投入进去。这说明真正美的东西是能打动人的，不需要那些低俗的东西让人堕落去吸引人。 刘先生认为：“这应该算是一股清流或一种非常好的方式来恢复正统。我认为美的、正统的、人类普世的价值是更长久的。所以，我觉得神韵从各方面，一是弘扬中国传统文化，另一方面让人感受到真、善、忍，应该说我喜欢她。” 对中国目前道德状况很忧心的刘先生说，这种反映中国传统美德的演出在大陆现在不太可能看到。现在中国人们道德下滑的速度很快，涉及到各个领域。“我也很痛心，很着急，但又无可奈何。”“出国后，大家经常交流这些事情，都不想回去了。其实每个人都很爱国，但不是爱中国现在的这种状况。”“希望这个状况能有改善。” 神韵开阔思路 作为一名科技工作者，刘先生表示对于演出中的预言故事和神话接受起来没有什么障碍。“因为作为一个中国人，在我们五千年的文化中，关于神佛的传说很多。” “比如，我们今晚看了《开创五千年文明》，轩辕黄帝下世，原来是佛祖下世，带领众神下世。这个确实使我明白了一些事情。有时候从科学的角度来说，进化论是被很多人质疑的。关于人从哪里来，到哪里去，我是谁。这是哲学上的终极问题，一直有人在问。其实，中国的神传文化很好的解释了这些问题。” 刘先生表示，其实美国也很多人信奉基督，50%以上的科学家，是信奉基督的。“我觉得只要去了解，就可以知道一些事情的本来面目。”

CINCINNATI—Dr. Rudnick, the Artistic Director of a performing arts school in Cincinnati, attended the Divine Performing Arts show in Cincinnati on Dec. 23, and was effusive in his praise:

"It’s a beautiful show. Beautiful. It’s marvelous combination of dance, drama, music, beautiful scenes, costumes. Exceptionally well done.”

Dr. Rudnick is a nationally recognized music educator, conductor, composer and performer. He brought a lot of his students to see the show and was “very, very glad” that he did.

"This is a wonderful introduction to Americans on Chinese culture, tradition, stories, mythology. I think that seeing the show we all come away with such a greater appreciation for traditional Chinese culture, in music, and songs, and all the artists, from the choreographer, the singers, the dancers…. [It is] really performed on a really high level."

Beauty in simplicity

"It kind of gets me in touch with some more traditional roots. I am a composer and musician. I love the sound of those Chinese folk melodies. I’m thinking about maybe even working on a piece, using some of that Chinese folk melodies based on pentatonic scales, beautiful simple scales but with a lot of emotional power. There’s a simplicity of getting back to this idea of simplicity and elegance that’s present in this marvelous performance that can inspire professional artists like myself. Sometimes in working with a lot of the modern groups, it tends to be very complicated. Things get very complicated. We have fancy instruments and complicated electronics and things like that. But it’s great to go back to simple kinds of ideas and simple forms like Chinese folk melodies. Beautiful! Beautiful! They give us new ideas and new ways of thinking of things."

Dr. Rudnick said the orchestral music fascinating: “Combining the western instruments, and some western harmony, with Chinese folk melodies, and with the pipa and the erhu. A gorgeous, gorgeous combination. In fact, I must say that I was surprised how beautifully it fit all together. It made perfect sense, beautifully, beautifully together."

Universal message

"The show’s message is incredibly powerful. We were just commenting with friends of mine here that it’s a message of hope and peace. Heaven knows that we need it in the world today. In fact we all came out of the performance just almost feeling like we were soothed. It was very soothing, very reassuring, soothing."

"A wonderfully positive message. A message that we don’t often get in America, at least when we come to these cultural events. It’s all about a specific event, a specific composer, and a specific performance. This had an even greater message, a universal message of peace, brotherhood, harmony, and that only added to the beautiful elegance of the entire evening.

Universal appeal

"I just think it’s a marvelous performance and a marvelous production."

"Everything was beautifully performed. Very well timed. Beautiful movement from the dancers. Everything was very very well done. Perfectly in sync. The musicians played beautifully. Just a wonderful collaboration of bringing so many different art forms together. That’s what I like most about the show. It brings so many wonderful traditional Chinese art forms together, but kind of puts in in a package that an American audience can really appreciate."

"There is an inner kind of philosophy that comes out in these dance moves and in the choreography. It’s really really wonderful. I personally appreciate it. And there really is an inner story in the outer movements."

Beautiful costumes and backgrounds

"Beautiful! Beautiful! I really appreciate it! The silk costumes. I appreciate it. The way the costumes were put together. Just very elegant, very beautiful, in a way that did not inhibit the movement of the dancers and the singers."

"Beautiful images projected onto the stage but in a large format, larger than I’ve seen with a lot of productions. In fact I’m going to take some wonderful examples that I’ve seen here tonight and bring it back to my art school."

Spectacular communication and collaboration

"This was such a great opportunity for American audiences and modern performers, modern dancers. They look at this, and they can get some wonderful ideas: 'Wow! There is a traditional Chinese culture of dance and song here, especially when blended with a few western elements, that can give us a whole new idea of pursuing some kind of cultural collaboration.'"

"I think one of the fascinating things about our age is that there’s communication. We get this opportunity to see these wonderful traditional Chinese elements, and to combine them with some of the western elements. And because there’s such a communication in borrowing and lending of ideas now, it really is a spectacular way to bring some of the fantastic elements of Chinese culture into American society. And if you saw the audience members here this evening, you saw that most of them were not of Chinese background.

"It is marvelous to see an event in Music Hall with so many young people who came to see this performance and were just fascinated. They were enthralled."

"As an artistic director, I feel that cultural opportunities especially for our young people, cultural opportunities that are appropriate in educational, in inspiring and motivating young people. It’s so important to have that. The ability to get an insight and to see another culture, and to get kind of a quick 5000-year history of Chinese culture in a beautiful presentation like this is phenomenal. It’s absolutely phenomenal. We need more of this."

【看中國記者樂奇奇/王亦笑亞特蘭大報導】斯考特（Scott）先生是一位科學家，專門研究藥物對人們的影響，30多年的科學研究經驗，使他對事物的評價有着獨特的視角。今夜協同妻子觀賞完神韻國際藝術團在亞特蘭大的演出後，他對記者說，“我并非醫生，而是科學家，在醫學領域裏我們和全世界的人互動，我的任務是幫助人們，不隻是一個個人，而是全世界的人，幫他們擁有更好、更完整以及更健康的生活。因此我發現今天下午的表演很有趣，很值得花時間來看。中國文化與美國文化很不同，但同時卻擁有相同的普世價值：試圖從錯誤中學習，使未來變得更好，因此對于未來會比今日更好的期待就很真切，這是我想今天節目所要傳達出的主要訊息之一。” 稍作沉思後斯考特先生繼續說：“人們都被生活所困，一輩子處在忙亂擁擠中，很少人會去想未來的意義。其實我們不僅是一個群體，我們是世界的一份子，我們必須爲更多人思考生命的意義，爲了我們自己，爲了我們孩子的未來，我們必須去想想看、試試看去使世界變得更好。我們的生活是那麽世俗化，我們在世間是那麽短的時間，在我們過世後有另一個層次卻是更長的，我們在世間的時間是很短暫的，我們應該要好好善用我們的生命，同時，我們要爲未來而準備，我這麽說不隻是爲了我們的下一代，也是爲了我們自己，因爲我相信我們也有未來。” 斯考特先生曾經和妻子去過台灣，在台灣接觸到的中華文化，讓他們驚歎，因此也對今晚的演出有了更加深刻的感受。“節目中，舞蹈演員們的天份、整齊劃一的動作，以及那美麗的天幕，給我們展現了一條通向我們内心的路，以及所要達到的崇高的目标。我有朋友在華盛頓，她的父母親在1949、1950是共産黨建政後的受害者，他們是四川人，即便到了今天，我的朋友都說還受到壓迫，很難有開放、自由，以及擁有他們所想要的，到今天都還被懷疑。在中國現在還是噤聲的。這個節目像是一個文化的橋梁，開啓了我們的心靈，我們想一看再看，多多欣賞這樣美好的表演。”

“神韵演出给我们带来了善良和希望” （图）

Deva 和丈夫一同观看神韵 【看中国记者童心辛辛那提报导】2008年12 月23 日 晚10点 30 分， 神韵纽约艺术团在辛辛那提的首场演出在观众热烈的掌声中落下帷幕。纯善丶纯美的节目打动了在场上千观众的心。 Deva 和丈夫一同观看了演出。她激动地表示，"节目的精神内涵激励人心"。她印象最深刻的节目是法轮功修炼者因信仰"真善忍"，遭受严酷迫害，却依然坚定地对佛法真理的维护。"我的内心被触动了，我几乎掉下眼泪。这些事情目前还在发生着，让我感到害怕和难过，尽管我们认为现在的社会已经很文明，但是人们很容易被现实利益所击垮，或是假装没看见，重要的是我们应该对这件事情表达关心。"当谈到这场演出的深层内涵时，Deva 赞叹到演出所展现的神传文化给人们带来了希望。 Brenda是辛辛那提大学的教职员工。她与同事们热情地谈出了自己的感受。 Brenda说"我觉得整场演出都那么美"。尤其济公抢亲那个节目给她带来了震撼。"当山崩的时候，那个主角，不管他是谁，他做了一个了不起的事情。当他退回到天幕里，回到山中的这一幕最棒，我非常喜欢，对我很有启发。"她的同事们也真诚地表达了自己的感受，"我最喜欢的就是真实的演员和天幕中景象的互动，以及演员从天幕上飞下到舞台的同步过程。天幕上云好像真的在动，感觉很壮观，很美。""太漂亮了，优美的舞姿，悦耳的音乐，精心编排的节目，三维动态的天幕，美仑美奂的服饰，所有的一切，真是完美。"Brenda 最后表示"神韵演出给我们带来了善良和希望。我对所有的节目都印象深刻。整场演出让我非常放松，我把眼睛闭起来，我仍然可以看到正在演什么。我来看节目之前生活压力很大，演出让我放松了。"
